Mia Sandergård studied at a young age at Althin’s Painting School and Wilhelmsons’s Painting School in Stockholm before she trained as a primary school teacher. During the summer holidays from school, she continued her art studies at various museums and in the period 1918–1933 visited several large European cities, including to Vienna where she studied with the Austrian artist, Albert Sallak. A hip injury in 1948 forced her to leave her teaching and become a full time artist. She exhibited in several Swedish cities including Stockholm & Östersund. Her art consists of children and depictions of folk life as well as floral still life done in oil, gouache, watercolour and pencil. As an illustrator, she participated in the magazine Vår skola 1949–1955 and she illustrated some children's books.

Please note the linen has slightly shrunk away from the corners of the frame however this does not spoil the overall impression.
