Astri Ekengren-Larsson (1898-1990) originally trained as a silversmith and later turned to painting and visual art. She studied arts and crafts in Moscow, and was a private pupil of Hugo Carlberg, Swedish artist and painter. In 1940 she studied at the Skânska painting school in Malmö. Her works were often exhibited in Hässleholm and Linköping and with the Östgöta art association.
